ADHD 2.0: New Ideas 27 Years After Driven to Distraction
Faculty:
Edward “Ned” Hallowell, MD
John Ratey, MD
In this interactive session,
Drs. Ned Hallowell and John Ratey will take a brief walk down the memory lane of ADHD, looking back to their 1994 book, Driven
to Distraction, when the condition was still called ADD, and recount the progress the field has made since then,
both in the professional, research domain, as well as the forum of public awareness. They will then summarize the new
findings from their latest book, ADHD 2.0: New Science and Essential Strategies for Thriving with Distraction--From
Childhood Through Adulthood, including such topics as the newly discovered pivotal role the cerebellum plays in
ADHD and its implications for treatment; the surprising power, for good and ill, of the brain's default mode network;
the unsurpassed power of connection in enhancing life with ADHD; and the heretofore unrecognized importance of a creative
outlet in thriving with ADHD at all ages.
