Welcome to the New England Council of Child &
Adolescent Psychiatry's website (NECCAP). The NECCAP is the oldest regional arm of the American Academy of Child &
Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) with close to 600 members.
The NECCAP was formed in 1962 with a mandate to foster
and promote by all proper and legitimate agencies and means, study, research, clinical application of and education in the
field of child and adolescent psychiatry and child and adolescent development; to publish and distribute articles, periodicals,
pamphlets and books relative to any of the foregoing purposes. To provide a scientific forum for child psychiatrists; to serve
as a focus for recruitment and supporting mechanism for practitioners; and to develop a group sensitive to and knowledgeable
about the emotional needs of children and hence equipped to serve as an advocate for children in local and governmental activities.
Like our former award-winning Bulletin, it is our hope for this website to provide our membership with information
about activities of the Council, including the excellent scientific programs that will be presented throughout the year and
a place where membership may "meet" to share information and ideas. More importantly it will be a place where members
may read about the business of the Council and take initiative to join in various meetings that are being held regarding child
and adolescent psychiatry. While the work of the Board is an effort to represent the needs of child and adolescent psychiatrists
throughout New England, it is important for our membership to be aware of the many opportunities that are available for them
to lend their own voice personally to the issues that directly affect our field. This website will be a place where you will
be able to find that information so you may take action as well.
Your feedback is important to us, please feel
