Massachusetts and the
United States are currently in the midst of a public health crisis due to the opioid epidemic. More pediatric providers who
understand how to work with adolescents and families are needed to support young people with substance use disorders including
opioid use disorders.
This training will provide background on the opioid epidemic, review treatment for opioid use disorders including
medication, therapy, and family interventions. Guidance for working with parents with opioid use disorders including women
in pregnancy and neonatal management of infants exposed to opioids in utero will also be reviewed.
an update on cannabis in the context of legalization in Massachusetts will be provided.
